Can septrin kill sperm at a concentration of about 0.001 mM, a concentration found to be physiologic in healthy men. However, at some concentration even lower, physiologic concentrations of spermicidal substances like septabenzyl sulfone, it is possible to kill sperm with relatively low concentrations. At concentrations below 0.3% sextuprolol and 0.1% septabenzyl sulfone, concentrations lower than what is found biologically in male genital tissues, some sperm are killed as shown in FIGS. 15, 15A, 16, and 20 of the accompanying drawing. Furthermore, septabenzyl sulfone itself was found to be an effective spermicide for treating infertility in rabbits at a concentration of 0.025%.
